Inclasificable y cinematografica serie dinamarquesa que combina lo fantástico con el neo-noir, el thriller y el drama. Lo mejor de la serie acaso no sea su historia sino la naturaleza enigmática de su joven protagonista y, sobre todo, los increíbles e hipnóticos climas que crea, con una puesta en escena que apuesta a la morosidad y al hieratismo.

Es muy difícil hacer una sinopsis argumental y una tipificación de esta cinematográfica serie inclasificable del danés Nicolas Winding Refn (“nfr”).

Podríamos comenzar diciendo que es la historia de Miu, una chica sin familia, comprada por una madame de un burdel para que use en su favor ciertos supuestos poderes que tiene. A partir de ahí Miu irá transitando otros escenarios, vinculándose con personajes y colectividades del submundo delictivo de Copenhague, con trata de personas y tráfico de drogas incluidos, en un derrotero por momentos tarantinesco. También es la historia de un pacto de agradecimiento que Miu buscará honrar y un relato sobre madres, hijas y filiaciones.

Por otro lado, junto a un universo inmigratorio que incluye personajes balcánicos y chinos, los daneses nativos están representados por una familia aristocrática muy particular.

Miu (una impenetrable Angela Bundalovic) es una esmirriada heroína, de una identidad enigmática, que es difícil determinar. Cuando digo identidad, me refiero a la acepción amplia del término (origen, esencia); la incertidumbre al respecto crea misterio alrededor del personaje principal y es uno de los puntos fuertes de la serie.

En cuanto al género, lo fantástico y onírico se combina con el thriller neo-noir y el drama.

Pero lo principal de esta miniserie no es tanto su historia como los increíbles e hipnóticos climas que logra, con una puesta en escena que apuesta a la morosidad y al hieratismo: repleta de lentísimos paneos circulares y panorámicas de escenas iluminadas en rojo o azul flúo, planos fijos, planos secuencia y una musicalización electrónica de Cliff Martínez, Peter Peter, Peter Kyed y Julian Windingque que recuerda a Tangerine Dream; imágenes y viñetas que remiten al giallo italiano, a David Lynch y un poco a V de Vendetta.

Unclassifiable and cinematographic Danish series that combines the fantastic with neo-noir, thriller and drama. The best of the series may not be its story but the enigmatic nature of its young protagonist and, above all, the incredible and hypnotic atmospheres that it creates, with a staging that bets on moroseness and hieraticism.

It is very difficult to make a plot synopsis and a typification of this unclassifiable and cinematographic series of the Danish Nicolas Winding Refn (“nfr”).

We could start by saying that it is the story of Miu, a girl without a family, bought by a madame from a brothel so that she uses certain supposed powers that she has in her favor. From there, Miu will go through other scenarios, linking up with characters and communities of the criminal underworld of Copenhagen, with human trafficking and drug trafficking included, in a course at times Tarantinesque. It is also the story of a pact of gratitude that Miu will seek to honor and a story about mothers, daughters and affiliations.

On the other hand, along with an immigrant universe that includes Balkan and Chinese characters, the native Danes are represented by a very particular aristocratic family.

When I say identity, I mean the broad meaning of the term (origin, essence); the uncertainty about it creates mystery around the main character and is one of the strengths of the series.

But the main thing about this miniseries is not so much its story as the incredible and hypnotic climates it achieves, with a staging that bets on moroseness and hieraticism: full of extremely slow circular panning and panoramas of scenes illuminated in red or neon blue, fixed shots , sequence shots and electronic music by Cliff Martínez, Peter Peter, Peter Kyed and Julian Winding that is reminiscent of Tangerine Dream; images and cartoons that refer to the Italian giallo, to David Lynch and a little to V for Vendetta.
